Heads up!

What? Another post? Already? This blog is in danger of becoming like clockwork ...

This is just a short one to say look out in the next day or two for updates of the first official meetings of "The Plant" ... Very exciting! We have a meeting today (Sunday) at 11 o' clock, which is cunningly called Sunday@11 and another meeting on Monday evening at 7pm which is called (even more cunningly) Monday@7. I'm leading the music for both meetings ... which is nice. These are our main meetings of the week, but we'll also have Bible study groups, prayer meetings, Christianity Explored courses and all sorts of other exciting things going on during the week. More info is available from

If you're this way inclined, please do pray for The Plant team as we launch; pray for good early meetings which are friendly, informal and most importantly, where the Bible is faithfully taught - we want to be setting our stall out early so everyone can clearly see the aims and ethos of The Plant. Pray for people to come and join us, both Christians and non-Christians but without inadvertently or deliberately poaching from other local churches! Please also pray for me as I seem to have 1001 things to do at the moment ... there just aren't enough hours in the day.

Anyway, I said this would be a SHORT post, so I'm sorry for wittering. If you have any questions or comments about The Plant or what I'm doing here, either leave it in the Comments section or e-mail me:

Ta very much, like!

Plants, Pots and Broadband Internet

Well now there is really no excuse for not blogging regularly ...

That is unless I have some work to do! As the title suggests (I love suggestive titles :P ) I now have Broadband Internet, courtesy of the lovely people at ntl ... I could go off on a big rant about the incompetence of BT ... so I will.

We contacted them for a basic phone service. All was looking fine and dandy ... but they told us that they couldn't get an Engineer out FOR OVER 2 WEEKS ... So we got ntl instead. It got ridiculous when BT sent us a leaflet last week saying "It's easy to come back to BT". NO IT'S NOT!!!

Anyway, enough of phone people - Cos that's actually quite boring. I'm now really getting into things at The Plant. One of my main responsibilities is looking after the music; some would call me Musical Director, others Worship Leader ... Personally I hate both terms so I think I'll just stick to Joe for the time being.

So far I've been compiling a list of songs for use at The Plant and putting them into a Spreadsheet with links to Txt files with the lyrics, a theme summary of each song and Bible references, and which Music books they appear in. It's taken quite a lot of work but I hope it will be a really good resource in the future! It's been great to establish a church's musical repetoire and means I can sift through all the bland and lame whilst keeping the gems of great Christian hymns and songs, old and new. Very exciting!

Anyway ... got to go ... I do have a life outside surfing and Blogging, you know!

News at last!

Sorry my early regularity and enthusiasm died out ...

I've moved into a nice semi detached house in Rusholme on a road directly parallel to the infamous Curry Mile (YAY!!!) which is incredibly cool. I have not yet had a curry, though ... biding my time. I'm sharing with a guy called Andy who is working part time for The Plant but mainly doing Christian schools work in private schools in the North. He's a nice guy and supports Man Utd as well ... we're hatching a plan to try and get to some matches during the year.

Sadly we don't yet have Internet access, hence the lack of updates recently! First we need an active BT or NTL phone line ... BT can't send an engineer out for 2 WEEKS!!! And we haven't managed to contact NTL yet but that may take some time to sort out - Sally, the other Plant apprentice who lives in the next street, says it took NTL 3 MONTHS to connect them!

Anyway, got to dash, we're having fun with the brand new PA system for The Plant - trying to work out how to use it! Only Andy has some experience with PA and he's only around for one day a week with us - and not for our main Monday meetings! Ah well. I'm going to be looking after the music side of things - initially anyway and also be involved in the Christianity Explored course (or similar) and probably reading the Bible 1 to 1 with students.

Dunno when I'll be online again, but will update when I can ... I hope this is sufficient to satisfy your insatiable desire for news on my rather exciting (?!) life ...

Until next time ...

Badgers to you all
